Legacy Code Gen Tools with New CCS

Partial Windows 7 support started with CCSv4 and full support by CCSv5. You can use older version of the compiler with those CCS version but there is a limit on how far back you can go:

For C54x, you need v4.1.x or greater. Since the C54x compiler in CCSv2.2 is 3.83, that will not work. But I believe the version of the compiler in CCSv3.3 is greater than 4.1.x

trying to get CCSv3.3 to work on Windows 7 is hit or miss. People have mixed results. Some tips are here:

I also had to make sure I ran CCSv3 as an administrator and in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode (both cc_app.exe and cc_setup.exe).

If you cannot get CCSv2/3 to work natively on Windows 7, people have run it inside an XP VM. But then again you are moving away from XP because MS is dropping support for it so I guess this does not help.
