Texas Instruments XDS2xx USB Emulator : Driver installation failed in Windows Vista

Hi,

I am trying to use Texas Instruments XDS2xx USB Emulator to connect to TCI6638 EVM. But I am unable to install the device driver for the emulator on PC running windows Vista. Below are the screen grabs of the error. Point to a solution.

Regards,

Pradeep

  • Pradeep,

Unfortunately I was never able to make my XDS200 emulators and boards work in Windows Vista 64-bits, which failed with the same issue as you. Part of the problem is that it relies on the standard CDC device drivers provided by Microsoft (additional details are in this forum thread), and other part is that CCS is not tested on Windows Vista.

In this case you could either use a different PC or try to create a virtual machine with Windows XP and see if the XDS200 emulator works from there (unfortunately both CCS and the emulators are not tested in Virtual Machines, therefore it is unknown). For tips and details please check the VM page at:

    I apologize for the inconvenience,

  • Pradeep,

I was able to properly run both my XDS200 and XDS560v2-class emulators on my VMware workstation 8.0.6 (and its counterpart VmPlayer 4.0.6), therefore my previous suggestion may be suitable to overcome the issues you are having with Vista. The reason I am not 100% sure is that I couldn't test it with a Vista host OS (only with Windows 7 as host)

I updated the page I sent before.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael
