System analyzer UIA does not work

We have tried using UIA with the following information in *.cfg

1)      Add or edit following  lines 

2)  Remove loggerbuffer and rto.agent related configurations

Then you will be able to select and configure the System Analyzer from Tools>>SystemAnalyzer>>Live

Is the Event Transport Mode in UIA Config set to JTAG?

With that in place, I am able to get events. I am using an older version of UIA though(v1.1.1.14)

Hi Vinesh,

the Event Transport Mode was set to "None", so I changed it to "JTAG" and save it to C:\ti\am335x_sysbios_ind_sdk_1.1.0.4\sdk\tools\gel\IDK\DefaultSession.usmxml.

Afterwards, I looked the settings via "Tools->System Analyzer->UIA Config" and I see the Transport Mode which is  "None" again.

Do I have to set this Mode anywhere else?

How about that:

Then load the program and use 'System Anlyzer - Live'. No need to configure anything else.

run and stop the program. You should see data in Execution graph now.

I see following strange behaviour:

1. If I start   System Analyzer-->Live and select Auto-detect configuration from Debug Session, I see under Transport "Stop-Mode JTAG" (see highligted below), which is correct (see highligted below).

However I see in System "Analyzer-->UIA Config" that "Event Transport type" is set to "None", which is not correct !

2.. If I start   System Analyzer-->Live and select "C:\ti\am335x_sysbios_ind_sdk_1.1.0.4\sdk\tools\gel\IDK\DefaultSession.usmxm" then  I see under Transport "Run-Mode JTAG" which is not correct (see highligted below).

However I see in System "Analyzer-->UIA Config" that "Event Transport type" is set to "JTAG", which is corrent !

In both case, I get no data at all !!!

I am using JTAG "XDS 510 USB PLUS" for IDK.

Which JTAG are you using for IDK?

Could it be the problem why I get no data ?

Can you try editing these in the cfg file?

BIOS.logsEnabled = true;

and either comment out BIOS.cpuFreq.lo = 600000000; or set CortexA8 Timestamp freq in UIA as 600.

Those changes were made specifically for ecat_appl(due to size constraints and other requirements). As Frank mentioned, it might directly work if you use Instrumented mode. 

So it's important how the application is configured. UIA is heavy in terms of memory and not enabled by default.

Hi Cemal,

By default, the Load events are logged every 0.5 seconds so you have to wait a while to see them show up in the System Analyzer views.  You can control the frequency that load events are logged with the following configuration code:

var Load = xdc.useModule('ti.sysbios.utils.Load');

Load.windowInMs = 100; // configure to log every 100ms instead of the default period of 500ms.

CAUTION: logging load events at a high frequency can cause a large number of events per second to be logged, leading to dropped events and slowdowns in the handling and processing of the event data.

I have exactly the same problems as you had. I also use the ecat_appl and did not get System Analyzer to run.

Now with help of this thread, I at least get some events and can display the Execution Graph. But it does not show me the Swi and Hwis. And also the Load Graphs don't work. Did you find the problem?

Any hints would be appreciated!
