flash programming Password Mode set from a TI example

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28335

Hi together,

 - I have CCS 4.0.2.01003

- I use the TI Example (Example_28335 Flash) and adapt it to a Serial I/O functionally, but I keep the memory map and the password.asm file exact the same one like in the example

- I use the TI Peripheral Explorer with a tms320f28335 - The JTAG adapter is C2000 510LC USB JTAG Device, flash voltage is 5V (Jumper is set on the board) after unpacking the example kit and flashing/debugging the project, a flashing error message comes and the first flash fault…

The following flash messages come at the next desperate bid to connect to the target: C28xx:

"Flash Programmer: Device is locked or not connected. Operation cancelled. C28xx: Trouble Writing Memory Block at 0x3389b2 on Page 0 of Length 0x1f Cannot write to target "

I have no Idea, because this ist the second DIM module that comes fresh from the box and brings this message in the flash console window. the Flash OSCCLK is 20 Mhz, the CLKINDV is 2 and the PLL Value is 10. can you help me to fix the problem? Regards Heiko

  • Hi Heiko,

I'm not sure if this is related to your problem, but there was a patch that was released that fixed a few F28x issues for CCS4.0.2.

You can see if the patch is available by going to Help->Software Updates->Find and Install... in CCS.

In the dialog that opens, choose "Search for new features to install" and hit Next.

Choose "Code Composer Studio Updates" in the next dialog and hit Finish.

A "Code Composer Studio for 4.0.2 C28 Flash update 4.0.3" feature will be available for download if you haven't applied it yet.

Please try updating and let me know if it solves your problems.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Ricky,

    Thanks for your answer!

Yes, I know, there was an Bug in the flashing Clock rate calculation, but for the first Flash I have used the older  CCS 4 with the faulty flashing tool, but now I have the latest DVD Image of the CSS 4, I have downloaded the newest Version of CSS4 (January 2010).

I think the first flashing act, with the older version of the CSS 4, have write the CSM Password section and make the Processor unusable.

Coud it be ??? Have you tried it? What can TI do? Send me a new Control Card to start again with the newest CSS ?

    Regards,

    Heiko

  • Heiko,

I'm not sure if the 2833x is in a socket on that board.  If it is please double check that it is seated properly.   I've seen some cases where a socketed device has moved during shipping and is not making good contact.

Could you also do a few checks just to make sure it is locked?  Or if you've already done this let me know.

    - Can you connect CCS to the device? If it refuses to connect please change the boot mode pins to "wait - check boot mode".

    - Once you connect, open a window to the password locations on the 2833x this is at 0x33 FFF8 - 0x33 FFFF.

    - The if the password locations all read back 0x0000 try refreshing the window a couple of times.

If the locations remain 0x0000 then yes, the part is unfortunately locked.   If they change to 0xFFFF then it is not locked.
