Activate project after removing .metadata

Hello everyone. Sorry for a silly question.

I removed .metadata folder from my Workspace directory. After that when I open my workspace I'm unable to observe any project no more, just a blank project explorer. How can I activate and get back my projects and return them to project explorer?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Andrei,

How can I activate and get back my projects and return them to project explorer?

All you've to do is; delete the workspace folder itself. Next time you open the CCS; it will ask you to create one. At that time you can give a new name for your workspace and continue your work. The .metadata folder will be automatically created.

  • Hello Gautam,

So, basically I will need to reimport all my projects to a new Workspace folder?

    Thanks for assistance.

  • So, basically I will need to reimport all my projects to a new Workspace folder?

Yup, that would do the job!

  • Well, that makes a little tie here. To import a project I do need to have it in some other temp folder. Then, when I'm importing a project to a new Workspace, it also imports some links that are linking to this temp folder which i just created. I guess the reason is that I made some bad linkage inside of my main workspace.

Anyway, my .metadata folder currently is about 25 mb, which is more than a half of overall space that my WorkSpace takes. And I wanted to clean it without breaking the main setup of my project. Is it possible? Is there exist some main files that I should save, and others that I can safely remove?

    True...

For safely porting a project; copying the main project folder is enough. Just copy all the projects (its folders) to a temp folder -> Create a new workspace (fresh folder that you'll be using as workspace henceforth) -> Copy all the projects there -> Open CCS and set your workspace directory to the fresh one -> start importing the projects (untick copy files to workspace while importing projects)

  • Well, thanks!

That solved my issue. Although I will still need to do something with my linkage as it still brings some troubles.

  • That's Great!

Although I will still need to do something with my linkage as it still brings some troubles.

That won't trouble you much :)

    Goodluck & Regards,
