Cycle count for F283x simulator

For F28x it is recommended to use the profile clock (Target->Clock) for profiling cycles. Please refer to this post for more information: http://e2e.ti.com/forums/p/10051/39036.aspx#39036

My problem is the same like that one, but I am using simulator, and when I follow the instructions, nothing happens. The window remains unchanged. Any other suggestions?

Hi Ivan,

The instructions in the other thread refer to how to enable C2000 function profiling on hardware targets. On simulators it is a different issue. Function profiling needs to also be supported by the simulator itself. For the 283x simulator, it is not. There is no other way to "turn it on"

The profile clock is supported on the simulator and you can use that for simple profiling.

How to use the profile clock?

Under target menu, clock button is grayed, I couldn't find it anywhere else.

As you can see clock button is grayed. Do you know is this not supported by simulator, or is it something else?

That's odd. I believe CCSv4 comes with one C28x simulator (F283x CPU Cycle Accurate Simulator) and the clock menu was available for me when I used that simulator.

Could you try cleaning out your workspace and see if that helps?
