CCSv4 in Virtual Machine licensing issues

Hi all,

I am trying to get CCSv4 running inside a virtual machine (running xp32) and I botched the licensing and can't figure out how to fix it.  When I requested a license I used the MAC address of the VM rather than of the physical network adapter.  Apparently this was the wrong thing to do - now CCS says it is unlicensed. When I do help->licensing options, it says this:

The HOST ID in your license file does not match the HOSTID of this computer<snip>

The host ID it shows is that of the machine hosting the VM rather than the MAC address of the VM.  I tried re-hosting the license with the correct MAC address and replacing the one I originally had, but it still complained.  Is there a way to restart the license setup on CCSv4?

Thanks,

Brady

  • Hi Brady,

which virtual machine software are you using (i.e. VMware, Parallels, ..)?

You should be able to change the virtual machines MAC address to the one you need/want to. In case of the CCS licensing this could (but must not) be the MAC of (one of)  your physical network adapter.

If you have used the MAC of the virtual machines network adapter this should also be no problem as long as you tell the VM to keep the MAC and not change it on power-on i.e..

You can add up to two MAC addresses to your license file. You can also re-host up to three times (as far as I know). For doing so, click on MY.TI Login in the upper left corner of the TI website. Then click the link below MyRegistered Software. Than click on Manage/Activate Software. On this page you will find the MAC address you generated the Host-ID for. Now check if this is the MAC of your VM. If not, change as needed (how-to depands on the SW you're using).

If that won't fix the problem click on MANAGE to re-host the license or to get a replacement license.

    Hope this helps, rgds

P.S. I'm using VMware Fusion on an Apple MAC.
