CCS 3.3 installation package

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for CCS 3.3 installation package, build 3.3.59.4 or newer.

The case is, I'm starting to debug my application hardware and I've been using eZDSP with this version of code composer. I'm looking for a "complete" version of CCS 3.3 to be able to use XDS510.

I don't want to worry about upgrading to CCS 4 at this very moment due to very tight schedule.

Thanks,

Marcelo

  • You can get the CCS 3.3 Platinum here: http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/ccstudio3.html.  This version supports all TI DSPs.

    Regards.

  • but there is no 3.3 download available at this page, the links at this page ends at 4.0 download page.

  • You can purchase a copy through the eStore

  • Marcelo,

If you already purchased a copy of CCS and have a valid subscription submit a request to http://support.ti.com and we can take care of you. If you do not already own CCS you will need to purchase it through the link in Ki's post.

  • but even @ eStore the CCS 3.3 is not available, only CCS 4. I need to buy a copy of it by the end of next week. My idea is to use the temporary licence while I wait for the definitive to be bought by the company I work for. Billy Owen suggested that.

The important point it to garantee that this version is fully compatible with the CCS 3.3 from eZDSP I'm using now. I tried another 3.3 version, but there is one problem with floating point support, version 3.3.59.4 has an option to enable fpu32 at "Project/Build Options/Advanced" that is not available for 3.3.38.2, which I downloaded yesterday.

  • Marcelo,

The link Ki posted is a link directly to the CCS v3.3 page on the eStore. If you click that link you will find the order button for the Platinum version of CCS v3.3. With that said it does seem that you are a C2000 user so you may not need the full blown Platinum version and may be able to get by with the C2000 version instead - is this correct? If so you can purchase that version instead here.

Note that you will need to upgrade a full version of CCS to one of the newer Service Releases (I think SR11 and up) for Piccolo support.

  • I'm not responsible for buying the licence, at this very moment I just need download a temporary version that is compatible with the one I'm using with eZDSP, and as soon as I know for sure it works, the person responsible for buying software stuff will get it.

I wasn't able to locate a CCS 3.3 link, all links ends up at CCS 4 page, I clicked at "More Information" at the page you sent the link. Sorry about that.

    Thanks,

    Marcelo

If the 3.3.38.2 version you have is a full version, then you can simply install the latest service release:

    Thanks

  • the version I'm using is the one that came with eZDSP, is it a full version ? If I get the license, can I apply this license to this version ?

  • One thing to note is that the build options that are available are not directly tied to the version of CCS but the version of the compiler.  Service releases don't upgrade the compiler that CCS uses but you can download them separately from Update Advisor.  When you install a new compiler release it installs a dll that CCS uses to determine the build options.  You then use component manager to select which version of the compiler CCS is using.   This page shows the details on how to use component manager: https://www-a.ti.com/downloads/sds_support/UsingCGTPackages.html.  As a side note it is much easier in v4.

  • Thanks for pointing that out John.

This is a DSK/eZdsp-specific version of CCS. It is not patchable or upgradable and does not come with a full license; however, it never expires and comes with the kit for free. So there's the trade-off.

The full version or the C2000 version of CCS will function much the same way as the version that comes with the eZdsp, but you are now entitled to updates. I am not sure why you need to download a "temporary version" to "make sure it works" when it will function the same way as the eZdsp version but with additional update capabilities.

Admittedly CCSv4 is much nicer in this regard as it has a plethora of licensing options and the ability to update the evaluation and DSK/eZdsp versions. If you have additional concerns with purchasing the full software please let us know.

  • Right now I need to leave my work using the eZDSP board and start using my own application card with the F28335.

I really don't want to do both things at the same time:

    1. start working on a brand new card

    2. upgrade my development enviroment

that's why I'm looking for CCS 3.3 similar to the eZDSP's.

Yesterday I downloaded a free trial of CCS 4 to start learning the news of this version. I noticed some differences and I'd like to take a look at these carefully. As I already mentioned, we are about to buy a CCS license this is not the issue at all. I imported my CCS 3.3 project into CCS 4 and was able to compile, but the linking is still failing. I didn't mean to spend time on this right now, but if it is the only way to get the job done, so be it !

    Thanks,

    Marcelo

If you buy the Platinum or C2000 version you can update it to be identical to the eZdsp version. Simply open Help->About in the eZdsp version and take note of the CCS version, CGT version and DSP/BIOS version (if you are using BIOS). Once you install the full version you purchase register your service code and select Help->Update Advisor->Check for Updates and download the appropriate Service Release per this wiki article as well as CGT and DSP/BIOS versions. This will allow you to use the same environment as seen with the eZdsp version of CCS.

I still recommend upgrading to the newest version of CCS, CGT and BIOS though as each will have numerous bug fixes and enhancements. It will still function the same way as the eZdsp version whereas moving to CCSv4 is a full IDE porting process.
