CCS with GCC, how is it done?

hello

i got some code from a company which works for sure running GNU compiler, but how do i activate a gnu compiler in CCS. i read about the --gcc extension but its not it right?

When i create a project i noticed that you must choose a compiler but only TI compilers are on the list.

the processor i want to use is the hercules.

In CCSv6, you have the option to choose the Linaro GNU compiler, which is shipped with CCS. However, note that for the Hercules devices, if you select the GNU toolchain you will not get any initialization files/linker scripts etc added to the project by default (like you do for the TI toolchain). You can still create a project and use that toolchain for the build, just keep in mind that it is up to the user to manually add all necessary source files, linker scripts, build options etc.

I understand that there are some extra things to keep in mind doing it with GNU compiler, and since im quite a beginner i ask you:

Do you have a code example for GCC and maybe even made for the hercules chip?

or maybe an idea of where to find some extra help. I am not sure how to find the necessary include files/ linker scripts

that would help me alot

As far as GCC examples for Hercules, it is best to ask that question in the Hercules forum. This is one thread I found on the topic but the folks there would be in the best position to provide more information, if needed.
