Thank you gautam, I think i will go with IAR evaluation version for MSP430, they have a 8K limited version for MSP430X devices...
also i am referring to the book by John H Davies...

Just one detail: which release are you using? The reason of my question is that, if you are using CCSv6, you don't need to install two releases anymore - this was true for CCSv5.
You can simply select the Free limited license when running it for the first time.

I'll upgrade my CCS
i am running CC6 6.01, full version. I have a similar issue in that I was working with MSP430, now I want to develop Tiva. I look at Code Composer Studio Installation Details and I see a bunch of MSP430 stuff, and other than one line about TI Arm Compiler Version 5.1 User's Guides, nothing Tiva or Arm. I am hoping I don't have to download and re-install CCS. Please advise.
