Problems installing Code Composer 2.00

Hi all,

I am trying to install Code Composer Studio v2.00 whose installer setup.exe was created using "DemoShield Run-Time Player" v6.2.12.0 created 27.07.2000.

Using Vista Business 64-bit.

The setup screen appears as expected and there are links to install, display release notes, install Adobe reader etc. but none of them do anything when I click or double-click on them. It just sits there.

I have tried:

-Restarting in safe mode such that nothing at all is running.
-Running in compatibility mode for W2K, NT4.0.
-Running setup as an Administrator.

Vista's UAC is off and I am an Administrator.

Can anyone help me install this software please? Is there any way to kick off the install manually?

Many thanks for your help,

Ken

  • Hopefully someone else can provide some additional suggestions, but it sounds like you have already done everything I would recommend trying, most CCS install failures I have seen stem from administrator privileges and you have covered the gauntlet of compatibility modes.

I did want to at least comment that CCS v2.0 is old, older than main stream 64 bit machines or Vista, thus I do not believe it was ever validated on a platform like you are using, it may not be possible for it to run properly on a 64 bit OS. Even if it did install properly I am not sure you could find compatible 64 bit emulation drivers for it.

In general the best way I know of to guarantee it will work is to use an older 32 bit OS, Windows XP should work (it worked for me with CCS 2.21, though I have never actually used CCS 2.00).

  • There are no 64bit drivers for CCSv2.  You may want to considering giving CCSv4 a try.

  • I've just tried installing under Windows 2000 Professional (running inside VMware Player) but I get the same problem with the links doing nothing.  This is making me suspect that the installation package I have has something up with it.  Is it possible to download v2.21 from somewhere on the TI site?

Also, the reason I am trying to get 2.21 up and running is because that is what our customer is using.

  • I will start a side conversation where I can send you the link.

  • Hi John,

Thanks for the fast and excellent help.  I've added you as a friend as requested.

  • Ki,

My CCSv3.3 will not allow me to flash program the device. The F240 is setup as microcontroller, but Code Composer recognizes it as a F2407 microprocessor, even though in the setup I selected F240 board and gel file. Does this problem sound familiar to you? Thanks,
