Uniflash: Not able to boot over USB

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Hi All,

1.   I'm using uniflash to boot over USB with AM335x EVM.

2. The board is getting detected and RNDIS driver is installed.

3. I've followed the steps given in this wiki - http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Sitara_Uniflash_Quick_Start_Guide.

4. But after assigning IPv4 addr. to RNDIS interface, speed is 0 and media is disabled. Please help me.

Regards,

Gangadhar

  • Gangadhar,

Make sure you have the boot switches setup to boot from USB, also check if your rev of the hardware support boot and flash from USB. You can check that with the expert in the Sitara forum.

That screenshot above contain no valuable information, please attach the ipv4 setup instead.

To debug and see whats going on on the target side, you can connect your PC's com port to the target using a null modem cable.

  • Hi Victor,

    1. Boot switch pos. that I'm using for USB boot - 11010 as in http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/AM335X_StarterWare_Booting_And_Flashing.

    2. AM335x ZCZ Base Board Rev  1.4A

    3. The problem seems to be in configuring my host windows system. I've attached the screenshots. Please see it.

    Gangadhar

  • Did you disable all firewalls?

Also, during usb flashing, the device boot up as a different device after the uboot is up, so you will have to go through the static ip setup again. Don't clear the other existing setting by the way, refer to point 34 on the http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Sitara_Uniflash_Quick_Start_Guide.

In your last screen shot, please switch to the status view and let's see what is going on there.

You could also find server logs in uniflashv3\third_party\sitara\log; Please delete existing log, recreate the issue and attach the log here.

I would also setup the COM connection if I were you, as we are not sure where it went wrong. The COM port will give more information on if we are getting responses from the board at all.

    Thanks,

    Victor

  • Hi Victor,

There is problem in tftp port binding.  I checked using netstat -a , there is no UDP port with 69.

    .

    2. As in my previous post, NO bytes sent/received. No "CCCC" activity on console. I've disabled firewalls.

  • I had PG1.0( XAM3359ZCZ). This was the problem. There was a bug in PG1.0. For boot over USB to work, it should be PG2.0 EVM  - XAM3359AZCZ.
