Building in a Linux GCC environment (currently using CCE3.1)

Are you asking about a GCC cross compiler for the MSP430 target, or simply Linux host code generation tools like what is used within the CCE environment today?

Sorry for being vague. I looked at the GCC source-forge page for the MSP430 support. I noticed that this project has not been update very often and hoping to get official word that the MSP430F5xxx family of MCUs work.

I had problems building this since function fwrite() used in the GCC source was deprecated and they make files contained -Werror which would break the build. I had to go in and fix all that so I could get it to build.

I also use the command-linker file heavily to reserve RAM and FLASH memory for specific locations I need to reserve.

What I'm asking is if I can do something similer with the GCC version of the MSP430 tools.

John - you might want to check out the Rowley Crossworks tool chain.  it's available on windows, Mac OS x, Linux, and even solaris.  it's actually an excellent tool chain and I highly recommend it.

Thanks, I'm a little woried about the effort in the mspgcc tool set.
