MSP430 USB Developers Package Compiling Error

I am trying to add the USB_API libraries and everything else necessary to add USB functionality to my firmware for the MSP430F5510. I am getting some compiling errors that are associated with the msp430USB.Id file.

I am using the latest developers package. 4.10.02. Both msp430USB.cmd and msp430USB.Id were in the USB_API folder and tried bringing out to the root folder, but didn't make a difference. Any ideas?

Used the descriptor tool with one instance of HID.

Hi,

You will have to include the USB library on the linker options. The error messages are coming from the fact that several USB functions cannot be found. Check section 4.1 of the page below:

Depending on how you are creating your project, check this other post that mentions possible problems stemming from the binary format (although I am unsure if that is your case):

I tried both methods, neither of them worked. For the linking options, I did both the library file and also the search path. The .CMD file was able to link to the library file section but it did not recognize the .Id file.

As for the output format to legacy COFF, didn't work.

I was able to cut down some of the errors, not sure what happened. But it still has the same top few errors

You mind taking a look at the actual project files?

David - a *.ld file is GCC's equivalent of TI's *.cmd file. Which build tools are you using?

Ok yeah that makes sense now because both of them have the same content. I'm using CCS V5.5.0.00077 with GCC enabled

This issue was resolved offline. For those following the thread, the issue was that the project was using the TI compiler but was configured to use a GCC *.ld file. Once the *.ld file was excluded from the build in favor of the TI *.cmd file, the issues went away.

Can you explain how to configure CCS to select the TI*.cmd file and not the GCC *.ld file.
