Trouble starting lmadmin for CCS floating license server

I have followed all of the steps here:

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/License_Server_Administration_for_CCS

to install and set up the license server, but after installing lmadmin I never get the web browser pop up to configure the server.  Is there a way to do this using lmtools instead, or do I have to use the web GUI?

  • Hi Dan,

the GUI is much easier.  Have you tried multiple browsers?  Can you provide a few more details?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • I'm not sure how much more detail I can provide.  According to the instructions, after completing the lmadmin installation I should have seen a web browser window pop up with the configuration GUI, but no such thing happened, the installer finished and it closed out.  Is there an alternative way to open the GUI?

  • Hi Dan,

I would start by doing this.   It is also likely worth checking that you don't have an anitivirus or proxy issue.

    • To go back to the license administrator GUI in the future, open a web browser and type the URL 127.0.0.1:8080

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • I get a "Webpage not available error", could that be caused by antivirus or proxy?

  • Hi Dan,

    possibly.  Or permissions.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • I corrected the problem.  The port I needed to enter was the port selected during installation, which for me the default was 8090 not 8080

  • Hi Dan,

    great, glad to hear!

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Would you be able to help me resolve the issue I am having now?  I got the GUI up, and configured the license, but it shows the error Vendor Daemon Down: tidspssw.  When I investiage the log this is what it looks like:

I suspect this might be an internal firewall issue, is it possible that is the case?

  • Hi Dan,

it could be.  What do you see in the GUI?  Did you set things up as a service and try restarting?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Thank you once again, restarting fixed the issue

  • Hi Dan,

    great, glad to hear.

Thanks for the update and all the best with development.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Hi, I am having the same issues, only that starting the server on the suggested URL did not result in launching the GUI. I did disable any firewalls and virus scanning, but still not luck. Is there anything else I'm missing?

I am trying to setup a floating license for code composer 6 on a windows 7 machine.

    Thank you!

  • It worked when running in safe mode, definitely seems to be an anti-virus (McAfee) issue. Anyone else have this problem, and were able to resolve it?
