CCSV6 updates on Win7

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430WARE

Hi,

I have had some problems with my Win 7 installation of CCS V6 as it was not correctly updating MSP430Ware to the latest version. See my post in this thread

This morning I decided to do a complete re-install, so I did a complete uninstall, and deleted the remaining files in the base install directory.

I got a new download of CCSV6 for the install and as a test decided to install this on both my Win 7 machine and my older XP machine. Both installation proceeded OK. Following the initial install I then accepted to install the optional components for MSP430Ware. I also ran through the update process for both machines. I believe that the operations were identical on both machines.

Having done this I looked at the installation details for both machines,

The Win XP machine shows that I have now got various MSP430Ware components at V1.90.0.30

However there is no sign of any components at V1.90xx for the Win7 machine.

I also generated the sample Empty project for driverlib on both machines. As expected this has generated totally different code.

Can anyone explain this behavior and let me know the best way to resolve it.

Regards

Roy

  • Roy,

For the version of CCS that did not update the MSP430ware:

Open CCS, go to the App Center page. Does it show you that MSP430ware has an update? If it does, can you install the update and see if that resolves your issue?

    Thanks

    Danish

  • Hi Danish,

    Thanks for the response.

The display in App Center shows MSP430Ware as "Up to Date".

I also tried highlighting the MSP430WAre and driverlib components in the installation details dialog above and using the Update button. This also comes back with "No updates were found".

  • Hi Roy,

This is going to need some digging. Could you please zip up the "install_logs*" folders (i.e. any folder with the prefix install_logs) in the <installdir>/ccsv6 directory and post them here? For both installations, please.

    Thanks

    Danish

  • Roy,

The component owner is updating the site with msp430ware 1.90 just now. It will take a little while to sync, but you should be able to update the second installation sometime today.

I'm not sure why one installation was able to get the more recent update, the other not, though. Is it possible you downloaded and installed msp430ware as a separate component at some time or have a CCS 5.x installation with that version on the first machine? CCS will go out and find any other target content or msp430ware installations in a few default locations.

  • Hi Danish,

    Many thanks for you replies.

I am pleased to say that both machines ran through the update process this morning with no problems.

It would appear that the WinXP machine had somehow picked up some of the V1.90 plugins but not done the complete install.

Both machines now have a "MSP430ware_1_90_00_30" directory under msp430 in the main CCS install dir
