F28035 Piccolo CCS Flashprogramming Plugin?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO, SPRC907

Hi all,

Is there already a F28035 Piccolo CCS Flashprogramming Plugin?

I think I have the latest CCS and Flashprog plugin, but when trying to start it, it says "Non-supported PARTID: 0x00BF, supported devices: ...."

Running from internal 10k Ram won't work very long...

  • Any update to this issue -- same problem here too.

    TI ???

  • A full install of the 32KB code limited CCS that supports the F2803x has been posted on Update Advisor. This is shown at the following post:

    http://e2e.ti.com/forums/t/7132.aspx

If you have a full version of CCS with a valid subscription, you can go to Help -> Check for Updates and download the F2803x Chip Support Package and Service Release 12.

    Regards,

    Tim Love

  • I have a full CCS version an a valid subscription, so I don't want to install the 32k code limited CCS.

    My CCS version is 3.3.82.13.

The download of the Chip support package was a good tip, now I have at least gel files for the F28035.

But the Flash programmer error message stays the same.

    Any other ideas / suggestions?

Should the Flash programmer work with the F28035 after installation of the chip support package for F28035?

  • I also have all updates including SR12_CCS_v3.3_SR_3.3.82.13 and F2803x_CSP_v3.3.2901 and cannot program the flash on the F28035.  This is a show-stopper as I'm in process of porting existing 2808 code (much larger than 10k) to the 28035.

The directory C:\CCStudio_v3.3\plugins\Flash28xx\Algorithms shows no entries for 2803X -- I'd assume it's the same for you Stephan.

On a related subject, is it possible to CCS to "burn after successful build"?  Microchip has such an option in the PIC MPLAB IDE.  It's rather painful to build, burn (clicking dialog buttons) and then run.  Flash burn should be more integrated.  With the Flash API now in ROM in the 2803X, I'm considering trying to compose a GEL file to do such, but I can't find the documentation on the Flash API.  It is referenced in SPRUGO0 (Boot ROM reference) "Refer to the 2803x Flash API Library documentation for information on how to use the symbol library" -- but I can't find such a document.

  • Yes, same here for the Flashprog plugin: I have a \Flash28xx\Algorithms\2802x entry, but no 2803x.

    Vidya,

Unfortunately this feature is not available in CCS 3.3 but it will be available in CCS 4.  In CCS 4 when you build the debugger will automatically invoke the flash programmer and update the flash.

The flash API is documented in TMS320F2803X Flash APIs (SPRC907).  Its a bit complicated to call it without interface code, however.

  • All,

We are having some discussions internally regarding the plug in update for the full CCS and its availability.  I will get back as soon as possible on this.

  • Moving this thread to the Code Composer Studio forum

  • If you are using CCS3.3 SR-12 (SR12_CCS_v3.3_SR_3.3.82.13) and add the Piccolo CSP (F2803x_CSP_v3.3.2901) that will not provide an updated Flash plug-in, as you have discovered.

We have a small installer that will add the Flash plug-in with an update for the F2803x Piccolo devices.  The attached installer has been given a quick check and it is still in the test phase, but since you are stuck you can give it a try.  Please let us know how it is working for you.

An alternative is to install the recent C2000 CCS.3 32KB code limited version as mentioned above.  Install it a different folder from your orginal CCS install and it will not impose a limit on your current install; both can coexist as long as they are installed in unique folders.

    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Mike, with your provided installer, the flashprog works for the 28035. Thanks a lot!

  • Hi all, I was following this "post" because I am using the F28027  Piccolo ControlStick tool. I also installed this beta version and works for F28035 with XDS501PP.

But my problem is the F28027. So Is there already a F28027 Piccolo CCS Flashprogramming Plugin, too ?

  • Do you also have the full version of CCS installed with latest service release SR12.1? The Algorithms and Flash plugin for 2802x should be available with the latest update.
