CCS4 debug does not support c54x simulation?

I just downloaded the RC of ccsv4 and am trying to build a hello world program for a c54x target.

When I enter the debug mode I dont get the choice of choosing C54x simulator.. I only see c55x series of devices. Does TI intend to discontinue support for c54x series???

Gaurav,

We still support the building of programs for C54x as well as debugging C54x devices in CCSv4. However we no longer include an instruction set simulator for C54x.

Ok, thanks John..

so now I need to hook up my dsk5416 to ccs4...

I hope ccs4 recognizes it

It should. Spectrum Digital has included what we call a "board" file for it. You should be able to select "Spectrum Digital DSK-EVM-eZdsp onboard USB Emulator" as the connection type and then DSK5416 as the device. Just type 5416 in th device filter to find it quickly.
