Choosing right license for CCS.

I am trying to decide which license type is a best for me.

It will be one user license, and preferably locked one. But I want to be able to work on my home PC as well. Plus, I may upgrade one or both PCs within a year.

I got used to IAR dongle flex license, when I was able to install a Workbench on multiple computers and use it with the USB dongle. Looking from this angle, is it possible to use my USB Wi-Fi card MAC address to lock license file?

Another concern: Common problem with using MAC address as a locking mechanism is inability to run software while correspondent network connection/controller is disabled. I am a network devices designer and ability to switch network controllers is desirable.

Thanks.

  • Hi George,

it is possible to use the MAC of an USB WiFi-card for locking your license too. This will give you the same flexibility as IAR's USB dongle.

In addition, you can license the software to two computers. You can do this when installing the software or later. Upgrading the PC is not that issue since you can re-host the license. But since re-hosting is limited (as far as I know it is possible only 3 times) using a USB WiFi is the better option.
