Port Connect Error when trying to port-connecting to a .bin file

Hi,

I am using CCSv4 (unliscensed), and trying to use the "Port Connect" tool to connect a memory address to a data file, but it comes an error:

What is the problem?

Hi,

I wonder, when configuring the "Port Connect", a data file is required to be opened as the data source, how about a TCP/IP socket? Could a TCP/IP socket be used instead of a file as the data source?

Hi,

The user is not allowed to establish port connect on any memory address range. Port connect is a feature to enable data IO at boundary peripheral address ranges only. Today we support the feature on serial port peripherals like McBSP and McASP address ranges. The valid regions for port connect is captured in simulation user guide spru600*.pdf in CCS installation. Please refer to this to know the valid ranges for your simulator configuration in section 2.1.2 on port connect.
