CCS 3.3 doesn't generate hex file

I have a legacy project that requires a modification.

It is coded in CCS3.3.

I can build in debug mode, and generate an .out file. However no .hex, or .bin is being generated.

I have looked over the posts on compiler installation and can confirm that the C6000 tool is present in the program.

Can you help me generate a hex or binary file?

Hi Cam,

There is a hex conversion utility that comes with the code generation tools. For C6000, it is called hex6x.

For CCSv3.3, it is located in:

<CCSv3 INSTALL DIR>\C6000\cgtools\bin

The hex conversion utility is fully documented in Section 12 of:

Is this an issue where I need to modify my .pjt file, or is there an option in project build options that I should be clicking?

There is no IDE integration of the hex utility in CCSv3. You need to either call it from the command-line or you can add it as a post-build step in your pjt file (basically typing out the same command to be run after a build occurs).

Here is the command I am using in command prompt:

c:\directory\hex6x.exe -b V2AcqSys.out -o V2AcqSys.bin

This will generate a file (generates a .b0 if I don't specify the output) but the file does not have useful information in it to flash to my device.

Any idea what is missing from my command?

I think you are missing some additional parameters to pass to the utility (-romwidth, etc). Sorry, but I'm not too familiar with the utility myself. There are some threads that discuss it more like:

You may want to try posting in the C6000 device forums also as more people there are probably familiar with it.
