Error initializing emulator: MSP-FET430UIF is already in use

Hi,

I am using CCS Version: 5.5.0.00077 in Ubuntu 12.04 and my debugger is MSP-FET 430 UIF. I get the following error message when i try to debug :

This started one fine morning.I couldn't find any reasons.

I have tried the following things ;

1)Restarted my computer many times

2)reinstalled CCS

3)i have removed other devices connected via USB

4)i have tried with other FET's that i have

I am sure its not the problem with the FET as it works fine with other computers with the Ubuntu 12.04.I have also not installed any new drivers.

Any suggestions/assistance would be of great help.

You're experiencing the above issue due to dll version or COM port conflicts due to some other softwares. Refer these links:

Thanks Gowtham for the prompt reply.

I had already gone through the following posts . But then i figured out what was wrong .

I had a python script that was using the USB-FET , to make the script modular i had defined a high priority udev

rule .Its priority was 10 while the priority of udev rule defined by the msp430uif_install.sh (msp 430 uif install script )

was 61. Hence the higher priority udev(priority = 10) was overriding the FET udev rule.
