CCS6 evaluation license

Hi,

If someone has already installed ccs6, is there a way they can obtain an evaluation license that will let them use all of the features for 90 days?

We have looked under help-> licensing info but could not find anything.  Their have an evaluation license for ccsv5 but since we upgraded to 6 we want to try that.  CCS 6 gives an error that the license is for 5 when we try to debug.

Thanks,
David

  • Hello David,

To my understanding ,  CCSv6 runs the Free License by default.   To start yoru evaluation license, you will need to go to "Code Composer Studio Licensing Information", click on the Upgrade tab select "Launch License Setup".   You should see the window referenced below.

  • Hi,

They only have the option to "Activate".

Under one of the default paths that ccs looks for license files there was a ccs5 eval license, but under the 6 directory.  We removed it and restarted ccs6, but it is still the same and only shows the Activate option.

Did you see any other license locations listed in the Manage section?   Is the same CCSv5 evaluation license listed in CCSv5 also?

  • There were three license locations listed, but we only found the one license file.  It has the same name as the license file that was listed for v5, but they are two separate files.

I found a link to extend the 90 day evaluation license, he is following those steps now to see if that works.

    Thanks

  • If they use the 90 day extension link it will generate a physical license file that can be dropped into CCS and used.  The first 90 day one is a special one that isn't actually a license file.  I suspect that CCS is detecting the v5 one and not giving the option to generate the v6 one.
