"Split window" feature appears to be missing in editor

I rely on the "split window" feature a lot.  It is present in CCS v3, as well as most other applications (MS Office, Acrobat, etc...).  Is it available in v4?  If not, please consider adding it for future updates.  Note: This feature presents a small handle above the vertical scroll bar.  Dragging the handle downward splits the window into two sections which can be individually scrolled.

  • Hi Lou,

Is this what you want to do?

  • Ki - Thanks for the quick response!  Yes, this does the trick . . . and now I know what that "group of folders" icon is for.  I just select "New Editor" from the right-click menu to make a copy of the file I'm working with, then position the copy with the split window feature.

My problem is solved, but after thinking about it a while, I still would like to see the "industry standard" feature added, as described in my original post.  The two features are not redundant.  Perhaps its a case of providing user comfort via a familiar environment.

    Thanks again, Lou

  • Hi Lou,

moving forward, our goal is to make as little changes to standard Eclipse functionality as possible. Otherwise it causes problems when trying to adopt newer versions of the Eclipse framework for CCS. However you may want to hunt around for an Eclipse plug-in that provide this functionality. I've found that if there is some common feature missing in Eclipse, someone created a plug-in for it (like this).

    Thanks

  • I tried this but the arrow never points to the side. It always points down in the debug view. In the C/C++ view it behaves as in the video. I clicked on the editor tab and went to the side and it pointed down not sideways.

    CCSv4.1.1....

    XP OS

    Whats the trick?

    Cheers
