Trace analyzer not working with Keystone 2 EVM

Hi,

I am trying to do some tracing/profiling using Keystone 2 based EVM with CCS 5.5 and XDS200 onboard emulator but I am getting the following error from CCS:

"Could not run analyzer on C66xx_0. Cause: Channel driver is not availabe. CPU is not selected for tracing."

I have launched the target configuration and connected the target (core 0 DSP). Then from Tools -> Hardware Trace Analyzer -> PC Trace. The selected transport is ETB and the data collection is selected to use "end at address". Normal debugging works fine.

I haven't been able to find any information about the error message. Any idea what could be causing the problem here? I have understood that "basic" tracing should be possible without xds560 emulator.

Just a little update on this topic. I also tried tracing with XDS560 USB emulator but it was complaining about the CCS license. Well, I accepted the 90 day evaluation license and basic ETB tracing started to work with XDS560.

However, when I try to trace with "Pro Trace" option selected as transport I get an error message about the wrong FPGA version.

To use the Pro Trace option, you need a Pro Trace receiver:

Do you have a Pro Trace receiver?

Which JTAG debugger do you have? This one or this other one? Despite sharing a common hardware, the first model (the standard XDS560v2 STM JTAG debugger) does not support Pro Trace - that is the reason why you are not able to select this option with your combination.

Hi Rafael,

You are right. I have XDS560v2 STM-UE so that pretty much explains why Pro trace does not work. My bad. What about the original issue with XDS200 onboard emulator? Is tracing blocked with FREE EVM CCS license?

I am not sure why the embedded XDS200 is failing to capture ETB Trace data. I am still pulling my C6657 board and give it a run. I will let you know how this goes.
