setup_CCS_4.1.1.00014.exe woes

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CODECOMPOSER

I downloaded  setup_CCS_4.1.1.00014.exe yesterday. Tonight I'm trying to install it under Vista. After the UAC hassles, I tried to install to

to a folder C:\TexasInstruments . The install  says its successful, then goes away w/o any further dialogs. I try to run and nothing was installed in the

C:\TexasInstruments\ccsv4\eclipse\eclipse.exe. There's not eclipse there.

I've been using earlier version of CCS for years and I'm very disappointed in this upgrade so far.

thanks for any help, -Lee

  • Lee,

The issue you are seeing usually occurs when only the main installer (setup_CCS_4.1.1.00014.exe) runs, but not the sub-installers (all under the 'install_images' folder).

Check to see that the 'install_images' subfolder exists in the same directory as 'setup_CCS_4.1.1.00014.exe' and there is content in that folder (in the various subfolder in 'install_images' you should see additional executables). If those files exist, check the permissions that they have execute permissions. Otherwise they will not run and the CCS installation will silently fail.

    Thanks

    ki

Thanks for your quick reply. I downloaded the codecomposer V4 from the TI website after signing the non-export stuff. The zip file only has  "setup_CCS_4.1.1.00014.exe" there were no other executables. I unzipped it to a "c:\CDTEMP" folder  prior to running it.

I'm admin on the machine( Vista ), had UAC off, and installed to c:\TexasInstuments instead of the " C:\Program Files..."  I tried both paths

and removed the InstallJammer dir before each try.

    Thanks,

    -Lee

This is the problem then. If you downloaded an almost 1 GB zip file, then the rest of the files have to be in there because the setup_CCS_4.1.1.00014.exe file is only 10 MB. Somehow the other files are not being extracted. When you double-click on the zip file, WinZip (if you are using winzip) should open up and show the contents of the zip file. Is there only one file in there?

  • I'm a moron: I found  the lost folder. For some reason( lack of sleep? ) I copied only the setup_CCS_4.1.1.00014.exe and missed the " install_images" folder

    faith restored :-)

Now how about upping vender stock of parts ;-)

    Thanks!!!
