Mouse lose its control when connect USB of the F28035 control card

Hi everyone.

I used F28035 piccolo board with CCS v5.4 for some months and it worked fine. However occacianally I found my mouse lost control. After excluding all the possibilities, I found the problem is the F28035 piccolo board namely when I turned the switch on the docking station from ON to USB, the mouse lost its control.

The test connection message is as follows

[Start]

Execute the command:

%ccs_base%/common/uscif/dbgjtag -f %boarddatafile% -rv -o -F inform,logfile=yes -S pathlength -S integrity

[Result]

-----[Print the board config pathname(s)]------------------------------------

This utility has selected a 100- or 510-class product.
This utility will load the adapter 'jioserdesusb.dll'.
The library build date was 'Apr 1 2013'.
The library build time was '23:55:08'.
The library package version is '5.1.73.0'.
The library component version is '35.34.40.0'.
The controller does not use a programmable FPGA.
The controller has a version number of '4' (0x00000004).
The controller has an insertion length of '0' (0x00000000).
This utility will attempt to reset the controller.
This utility has successfully reset the controller.

Then I launch selected configuration, turn the switch from ON to USB and then click Connect Target an error message prompts "Error connection to the target: (Error -1135 @0x0)" and then the mouse loses its control.

When I turned the switch from USB to ON, the mouse worked fine.

I would like to know what is the problem, is the control card broken, is the docking station broken or something else?

Thank you!

Liwa

Did you check the health of the components and the voltage levels around the board? Please check for any overheating components. Also, compare the voltage levels on the board with the schematics.

Let me know what your observations are.

As far as my knowledge, the above issue would occur if there's a short on the board which is drawing excessive current from PC's USB connector and hence mouse malfunction.

  • Dear Gautam,

Thank you very much for your reply and help.

I have tested the board. The problem happens only the boot mode is in GetMode namely both of the SW2 pins are truned ON.  In this situation, the voltage level of the pin2 is 2.6V and that of the pin4 is 3.3V. I think the control card is broken:(

    Best regards,
    Liwa

Can you just look at the IC pin layout (in the datasheet) and confirm the pin numbers and their description again ?

Esp. check Vdd and Vss pin voltages.

  • Dear Gautam,

Thank you for your reply and excuse me that I did not answer asap.

I tried to adjust the SW2 to change to boot mode to check the mouse behaviour, however suddenly I found the SW2 was overheated.  So I came to the conclusion, the board was burned:(

    Best regards,

    Liwa

That's Great! Atleast you spotted what the problem was :)
