Expressions in continuous refresh mode (CCS v5)

Hi, 

I am working our project with ccs v5.4 to control a motor. I want to watch some global variables in CCS in  continuous refresh mode. Will this mode interrupts or influences our own program? 

How does CCS  realize the (continuous) refresh mode to  get the actual values of variables?
