update issues CCS5.5

Hi Stephen,

We came across this issue recently and believe that it's due to some eclipse metadata files being corrupted. We're going to try and force eclipse to rewrite out the metadata. Can you try the following:

Go to Window -> Preferences -> Install/Update -> Available Software Sites.

Select "Code generation tools updates" (there are two, select the one that points to http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_ccstudio/codegen/Updates/p2win32)

Copy the url, then delete the entry and re-add it. Add a / at the end of the url, if there isn't one. Delete the slash if there is one.

Exit out of Code Composer.

Restart Code composer and try the update again.

Less was selected by Eclipse and other things are not being selected for update as if the "latest" version is installed.

I KNOW they have updates so this is a frustration.

2nd it won't update it does not set the NEXT key (I unselected the parts that can't be updated due to missing components) is not enabled in the dialog.

Hi Stephen,

It looks like the code generation tools are not showing up in your list now. Can you ensure that the URL that we fiddled with is enabled? 

Can you take a snapshot of the "unselected parts that can't be updated due to missing components"? It might provide more details as to what is going on. Eclipse's error messaging is really lacking sometimes.

Unselect the "MSP430 Emulators" from the list above. This repository might have a dependency that's not available. We can try and install that separately.

It appears the entry was deleted when I changed it (as in I couldn't find it when I looked).

I then deselected the Hercules and MSP430 emulators

The other thing is their is only 1 "Code generation tools updates" listed (the one I just added) and before I modified it their was only one. That an issue?

I'm sorry you're seeing so many issues. Unfortunately, there's no documented steps to make eclipse to write out the metadata, we have to try a number of things.

Let's try this:

Go to Help->Install new software

In the Available sites pane, click on the add button

Add http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_ccstudio/codegen/Updates/p2win32

From the list of the code generation tools that show up, select the MSP430 4.4 code generation tool windows update.

Let it install.

When CCS has started up after the installation:

Go to Help->Search for updates.

From the list available, only select MSP430 Emulators or MSP430 Device Support. Go through and install it.

After CCS comes back up again, search for updates and install the rest.
