installing msp430 compiler into ccsv6 attempts to install ccsv5

i've tried to install the latest (4.4) msp430 compiler into ccsv6.... after the download and provisioning operation completes, i'm asked to restart ccs -- which is to be expected....

but then, i see a message for a windows installer that is attempting to install ccsv5!!!!

i did have ccsv5 installed in my system as well, but i removed it.... note that removing ccsv5 is apparently not robust; mine uninstall got stuck "cleaning the registry"....

bottom line -- i have no way to install the latest msp430 compiler....

Hi bob,

Did you try after deleting the CCS v5 directory under C:\ti ?

Ok, so this msp430 update you're performing - is it from "Check for updates" option or is it an offline installer?

i went through 'Install New Software', pointing ccs at the compiler update site.... i then selected the MSP430 compiler, which led to the sequence described above....

honestly, i wish there were a standalone installer; but my understanding is that MSP430 and ARM compilers must be provisioned via ccs....

Hi,

Could you please list the contents of the c:\ti\ccsv6\eclipse\utils folder? You may be missing the update installer. What version of CCS 6 do you have installed? Take a look at Help -> About.

and the utils folder contains three sub-folders -- bin/, cygwin/, and tiobjbin -- none of which contain anything remotely resembling anything related to ccs updates....

Look in c:\ti\ccsv6\eclipse\utils (not c:\ti\ccsv6\utils).

there is no utils/ folder under the eclipse folder in my installation....

That's the reason you're seeing the weird ccsv5 install issue. Email me at d-innis@ti.com and I'll send you a zip file to install there.
