cc2538EM without smartRF in ACM-USB?

 Just i got my new CC2538EM (cc2538em alone) , Connected it to my computer through USB(as a power source)

i Believe i connected jumper correctly for USB mode .Checked whether my linux recognized it or through dmesg and lsusb , but could not get recognized (checked even with windows)

First time i am connecting to my computer after i unpacked , I did't connect cc2538EM with any other device before i connect to USB

Do we should program it with SmartRF before connect with USB or is it possible to all the config cc2538EM with USB alone.(Just for information i am trying to progaram cc2538EM with contiki)

I think everything can be done in cc2538EM without any assistance of SmartRF or do we need SmartRF definitely for programming it 

If any other further information needed mention it

    No, the SmartRF is required to program the CC2538. It is possible to create a USB bootloader that would enable you to re-image a CC2538 over the USB. However out of the box there is no such boot loader on the device and you need to place it into the SmartRF06 and download a firmware image using XDS100 based JTAG.
