When a new project is opened startup_ccs.c is not generating why?

Hello Guntoju,

I am using CCSv6 and startup_ccs.c is never created when I start a new project. Why do you think it should be created? Also, what is the purpose of it?

thnx for ur answer. In tm4c123g workshop they have given about automatic generation of startup_ccs.c for a new project

In CCSv6, a start up C file should be added to new projects by default. If you select the target device to be one of the Tiva C devices, then a file named <devicename>_startup_ccs.c should be added to new projects. That would be the equivalent of what is referred to as startup_ccs.c in the workshop. Do you not see this happening?

I am using ccsversion 5 .I dont know whether a startup_ccs file is added immediately a new project is created in code composer v5

Which exact version of CCSv5 are you using? In CCS 5.5 (latest) the startup file is added to a new project. It may be that this was not the case in some earlier versions of CCSv5. I would suggest updating to CCS 5.5 or even CCSv6 if that is feasible. It is generally advisable to stay with the latest version, and a lot of the training/workshop materials are geared towards these later versions as well.

Hi Guntoju,

Use CCSV6 as advised by TI AartiG.

See, startup_ccs.c at one of the example programs at Tivaware, to learn its importance. There are code comments to describe its contents.
