CCS 4.1.1 comes up with an update request but no way to update

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

I installed the Platinum version of the CCS 4.1.1 with now issues.  Then when I ran it, the program indicates there is an update to review.  When I review it, the message indicates a subversion Client Adapter update is required.

But, it does not give me a way to select next, it stays grayed out.  I did use Eclipse on a previous project and probably have that version still installed.  But, why would it not allow this update?  The only other information it provides is the error details which is complaining about CCS 4.0.4.0100 and Blackhawk CCS v4 Emulation 4.0.1.1.

I did have the free version of CCS 4.0 installed, but I uninstalled it prior to installing the Platinum version.  CCS 4.1.1 run fine, it is just frustrating to be asked to update everytime I open the software only to not be able to update.

  • Update manager looks like it might be confused by some content that was left after the uninstall of the previous version. Specifically, update manager looks like it is finding the feature.xml files for the com.ti.ccstudio.product.update404_4.0.4.01000 and com.blackhawkdsp.ccstudio.emulation_4.0.1.1 updates.

There are two ways to address this. The most straight forward way would be to uninstall the CCS version you currently have, browse to the install folder (i.e. C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\CCSv4) and delete any remaining files. Then, run the installer again to reinstall CCS.  An alternative would be to leave your current install as is, and install CCS again into a different folder.

The second way to address this would be to try to remove the left-over content that is causing this problem. It will take a few iterations to find an remove the feature configuration errors. I recommend going with the first suggestion if at all possible.

EDIT added:  We confirmed that uninstalling 4.0.2 would normally delete all the contents under <install dir>\ccsv4, so is is unclear why some things might have been left in your case. It would be helpful if you could zip up and attach the contents of  "c:\program files\install jammer registry\" to your post. This contains some logs file that might provide a hint as to what occured.

  • That worked.  Thanks you very much!

  • I could do that, but I need to find out how to attach a file to a post.  I see how to create a HTML link and import media (image), but not how to attach a regular file.

  • See the first (and only) FAQ in the forum readme: http://e2e.ti.com/support/development_tools/code_composer_studio/f/81/t/3131.aspx

    thanks
