CCS 4.1

Hi.

When looking at our homepage www.ti.com/ccs it states that the CCS 4.1 comes with a 30 days evalutation licence + 90 days extension.

How do the customer qualify for 90 days extension?

I would also like information about maintaining a licence for the CCS 4.1. Do the customer pays a early fee to keep the compiler updated?

Thanks in advance for getting back to on this one.

  • Hi Anders,

See this FAQ for extending the eval license for another 90 days:

I'm not sure what exactly the question means. If you are asking if there is a fee for updating the compiler for a CCS version with a 90 day eval license, no there is not

    Thanks

  • Sorry for not being clear on this one.

If the Customer buys the CCS 4.1 for the C2000 and need the licence to be "up to date", my undestanding is that they should pay a early fee, to keep the compiler updated.

What is the early fee to keep it updated for the C2000 family?

  • I've never heard of such a fee. If they purchase 4.1 they will automatically be eligible for any compiler updates. There is no extra fee.

  • When you buy CCSv4 it comes with 1 year of subscription.  Having valid subscription means you will receive major upgrades like CCSv5 for free.

For minor upgrades (all CCSv4.x releases and compiler upgrades) you do not need to have valid subscription.

  • Should I read the answer like:

When customers has purchased the CCS 4.1 they can have updates forever for free?

Will this also mean that the customer can get updates for new versions, lide V. 5.0?

If this is the case the customer has purchased a version 2.21, does this mean that the customer can upgrade to CCS 4.1 for free, or how is the policy on upgrades?

If the customer can upgrade could you please advice how to do that.

  • Hi again.

Now we are actually at point I had in mind.

What is the price to extend the subscribtion for an aditional year?

Meaning when the first year has past the subscription is no longer valid, so what is the price for the second year subscribtion?

  • The renewal cost of subscription will be 20% of SRP.   So for a node locked Microcontroller license it would be approx $100.  We haven't started selling subscription renewals yet as CCSv4 first started shipping in August of 2009.

  • The renewal cost is $99.

WARNING!  Do not enter a quantity other than 1 if you have 1 node locked license.

I misinterpreted the renewal qty thinking that I could populate my development machine and setup a manufactuing and test machine.    This is not the case.  The  TI eStore website will accept the order and any extra upgrades CAN NOT be refunded and as there is no refund infrastructure in the eStore for software.   The extra renewal licenses are completely useless.

In the painfully slow support process, it was disclosed that the node locked license allows for installation on two machines...
