CCS V6 Licence Information.

Hello ,

I have downloaded & installed CCS V6  6.0.1.00040 under  windows XP very recently using  CCS V6 OFFLINE installer    package.

After installation It didn't prompt for licence activation. It was shown as Free Licence. Then I removed the free licence location  by going thru'  Help --> Code Composer studio Licencing Information . And became Evaluation Licence as shown in the  licencing information.

I was able to compile  & debug a test code of size more than 30K approx.

 My questions are:

 a. Does this offline installer package comes with also a "90 Days evaluation Version " licence inside it ?If not then                         How could it took Evaluation Licence automatically even though I didn't activate it.?

 b.  On a note , I have installed around 2 months back CCS v5 in a different directory  than CCS v6 on same PC.That I was            prompted to activate Evaluation Licence for CCS v5 going thru' all that MAC address...etc

This time ,does CCS V6 by default taking the same licence file and showing Evaluation Licence.? If it is the case do I               require  a new evaluation licence for CCS V6 just installed. In fact I wanted to know How this licence file going to affect             the performance of CCS V6. Is it going to use ccsv5  c compiler internally etc...

Plz comment on this...

This depends on the device. If you'd XDS100 emulator then your Free License would've been valid. I guess, you might be using some other device or emulator which prompted CCS to switch the license.

Evaluation license would be different for both the versions and will thus have their respective validity. Btw you can check how many days are remaining for your Evaluation license to expire in CCS Licensing Information.

  • Hi Gautam,

Thanks . But my doubt remains same. I have already seen "License Information View" and from that only I saw the Evaluation version status of 90 days Remaining " there which i had shared in my last post.

    I am using  MSP-FET430UIF .

My doubt is how could it automatically show "90 Days evaluation " Licence.I have not installed/activate  any evaluation licence file for CCS V6 so far. Only has CCS v5 running that too in other directory. Does the Offline software installer package comes with a "90 Days evaluation Licence" ?

As i am not facing any problem, i am not much worried. If I assume that it took internally CCS V5 license file , will it going to affect the CCS V6 performance , any new feature (if any ) ...... I would like to know all .

    Anybody please !!!

    Regards,

    Ars.

This should not happen automatically. User gets an option to select the license after installation of CCS. Can you elaborate on this statement of yours <"Then I removed the free licence location  by going thru'  Help --> Code Composer studio Licensing Information .">

This would've not happened... if that would've been the case then Number of days remaining would've been very less and not 90days. This 90 days evaluation license is for complete feature set  and there will be no limitations until then. Also, CCSv6 license file is valid for CCSv5 but not the other way round!
