CCS and TI Compiler free version

Hello,

We are looking at using a Hercules microcontroller for a project and using CCS with the TI compiler. I began using the free license with a development board with onboard emulation, and things are going smoothly so far. So my question right now is...

Why should I pay for a license? It seems to me that we could use the free license with a custom PCBA using the XDS100 programmer to develop production code. What would be the advantages to using a paid license?

Thanks,

Matt

  • Hello Matt,
If you are happy with the XDS100, then there is no advantage for you. Some people find the XDS100 too slow for their needs and prefer a faster performing (external) debug probe. For that, they would need a paid license.

    Thanks
