Update Manager showing older versions

I'll try to show all my steps with screenshots to be unambiguous.  First, here's my version info:

Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install

I checked the "Search for new features to install"

Then I clicked Finish and the following screen comes up:

Questions

  • Why does CCS 4.0.4 show up as a service release when I'm already on a later version?
  • How do I figure out my current version of the Blackhawk emulation drivers?  It's not clear if it's trying to "update" me to an old version.

Thanks,
Brad

  • Brad,

Service release 4.0.4 shows up due to an idiosyncrasy in the way the Eclipse Update Manager works. If you try to apply it, it will not let you as the dependencies are not satisfied.

The more details reason for this is that update manager has two types of updates that we use: full new versions of existing features, and patches. Internally, patches are treated a new features (not just new versions of existing features) by update manager. So, when  you click the "search for new features" radio button on the initial update manager dialog, it will find this "new feature" and display it. If you use the other option ("search for updates for currently installed features"), 4.0.4 will not be displayed unless the dependencies are satisfied. I agree it is confusing, but this is how Eclipse Update Manager works. I haven't tried this in CCSv5 yet, but I hope it has been addressed.

For your other question, you can determine the versions of currently active features by going to the Help->Software Updates -> Manage Configurations dialog.
