DCPFREETOOL

In order to do some evaluation on the AREDRI8201 I have downloaded and installed CCS 4.1.1.0014 on my Win 7 x64 machine. This installation runs fine and has a valid evaluation licensce. As per the installation recomendations for CCS4.1 it is NOT installed in the default location but installed in C:\CCSV4. UAC is disabled on this machine.

The problem I have is that when I try to install the DCPFREETOOL (slac087d)  that I need to configure this device, the slac087d installation fails complaining that no valid Code Composer  installation can be found.

My first thoughts are that either the DCPFREETOOL install is expecting Code Composer to be in a known location (Program Files etc) or simply that the installation does not work properly on  Win 7 x64.  Does anybody have a solution to this problem. I'm afraid that without a solution we'll be forced to scrap the AFEDRI8201 evaluation process entirely.

  • Hi Ken,

The Data Converter Plug-in is not supported with CCSv4. Only CCS 3.1 & 3.3. The information on ti.com should be updated to be clear on this. Anyway I'm not sure if the plug-in has been updated to v4... at least I am not aware of it.

    Thanks

  • ki,

Thanks for the prompt answer. If the plug-in is not supported then it looks like this evaluation is over before it begins as the Code Compose page implies that it is not possible to download CCS 3.3. Do you know if that information is that correct or is it possible to obtain a copy of CCS 3.3 in which the plug-in will run

  • CCS 3.3 is still available. We have a 30-day free eval version of 3.3. I can dig up the link for that if you are interested, I believe you can install the DCP with that version if I'm not mistaken.

  • Thank you.

I would really appreciate it if you could dig up a link to CCS 3.3. As I understand it, it won't run on x64 systems but my development machine runs a 32 bit XP virtual machine anyway so it should work OK. And at least we know that the DCP works on CCS 3.3.

  • 3.3 can run on 64-bit machines. It's not officially supported however so you may run into issues. The biggest issue is that you have to make sure you have 64-bit emulations drivers that will work with 3.3. The ones that come with the 3.3 install are not. But you should be fine in a VM.

  • I'm running into the same problem too. Can I pm you for the link too?
