How to measure CPU load in TMS320C6455 without using DSP/BIOS?

Unfortunately no. The measurement of CPU Load is always a ratio between the time spent in performing queued tasks and idling. Since the method used for task management varies greatly between applications (ranging from the traditional interrupt-driven system with the for(;;); at the end of main() to the use of an embedded operating system) it forces CCS to not take any assumptions and "guess" when the CPU is executing a task and when it is idling.

One way to perform this measurement is to use an embedded OS like DSP/BIOS, since it controls the entire flow of task management and therefore knows with a great deal of precision the exact time spent in tasks when compared to the background tasks. DSP/BIOS also has tools integrated into the CCS IDE that display the CPU Load data in real time (among other things).

Other methods vary greatly. If using an interrupt-driven system, a timer counter could be added at the beginning and end of each interrupt and the loop would perform the ratio calculation against the time spent while running itself. If polling is used the time measurement can be a bit simpler as it knows when an event occurred before reacting to it, but with the disadvantages of polling (hard to use CPU low power modes, etc).
