I am assuming that your concern is how portable your project is (i.e. can I copy my project to another location (or give it to someone else) and it will still work?). If that is your question see:
For CCSv3: http://focus.ti.com/general/docs/litabsmultiplefilelist.tsp?literatureNumber=spra913
For CCSv4: http://tiexpressdsp.com/index.php/Portable_Projects
Thanks

That is good to know, but the reason I would like to copy my project is that I have repeat projects that are very similar with only a few differences. I would like to have an easy method of copying a project as a starting point.
I copy projects all the time. I just need a few tweaks here and there but then I'm good to go. Following the tips for portable projects definately can apply for these cases too. Exactly what issues are you running into?
I use copy/paste for CCS4. While that works usually nicely (provided that you use relative paths and such), the property settings for mnemonic/algebraic assembly always (reproducebly) get lost. Is this a known issue and is anybody else also having this problem? It is not a big deal, of course, just set these properties again, but I always hope that not other properties also get lost. There are lots of settings which I don't know what they are there for, and if some of those settings would get lost, I would spend a lot of time looking for the problem.
When I said I knew how to copy before I was actually meaning my coworker. I am brand new to CCS. He showed me today how to copy the programs, but it is really a hastle. I was hoping for something like copy the file in windows. Rename it and maybe a couple of tweeks in CCS. His meathod is, Create a new project in CCS while in the workspace for the project you want to copy, go into windows explorer and copy the source code files. From within CCS in the project dropdown go to Build settings and copy and past the Compiler and Linker info (this is where you could break the old files if your not careful going back and forth between projects. Import the necessary libaries. Change the xxxlib.h file to contain the new program file. Close the original program out of the workspace. Save the file and save as the workspace to the new program name. This is all rather cumberson and time consuming.
Too late for the original poster, but in CCS5
copy the source project (select it and Ctrl+C)
paste it (Ctrl+V)
The Copy Project dialog allows you to rename the copy.
Everything is copied: subfolders, links, includes, processor options, all the details that a manual approach could miss.
Hi,
I am using CCS6 and copying and pasting the project only partially works. It copies the project files to the new location but not the source files. I would like to create an independent copy of the project. What is the best method to copy a project in CCS6?
Paul
Be careful to use copy/paste with CCS6 as, just this mornig happened to me, it messed up all projects. As a result, not a sigle project could be used anymore (even the older ones). And when I tried to delete the just copied project (from the disk) ALL projects were deleted!
Only by resuming the working directories did it revert to normal state (I daily make a complete disk image).
Thus, I warmly suggest to be very protective before using Copy/Paste for copying projects.
