Code Composer Studio 6.1 fails to install on Windows 7

John Linsley

Windows 7 64-bit, Service Pack 1 on Dell Inspiron i7-3630QM.

Antivirus disabled. Firewall on but permission given for CCS installer.

The process has failed at several points, most often at:

Installing... com.ti.dvt2.graph.visualization.feature.group,com.ti.dvt2.rov.feature.group,com.ti.dvt2.via.ccs.feature.group,com.ti.dvt2.profileanalysismanager.feature.group,com.ti.dvt2.uia.feature.group,com.ti.dvt2.analysis.suite.feature.group,com.ti.dvt.msp430.power.feature.group,org.eclipse.gmf.feature.group

Where it just does nothing for as long as I ignore it. If I use task manager to kill it at this point then on the next pass through it will almost complete (according to the progress bar) but then repeatedly unzips JRE from two different locations for ages. Eventually a message box pops up saying - An error occurred: can't read "msg": no such variable.

I submitted the report as requested ref no. 11518 & 11526.

Hi John,

Are you the system administrator? Try running the setup in "Run as Administrator" mode.

Hi Gautam,
If that is the window that pops up after the install fails asking if I want to be contacted then I have already done so (probably with my work email address) with ref no. 11518 & 11526. If not would you please tell me where to find them?

In the /ccs6 folder there are a few directories. /install_logs and then some that say /install_logs followed by a timestamp. Could you zip those up for us?

I got the same "An error occured: can't read "msg": no such variable" error with the web installer but the offline installer eventually worked.

Hi John,

Unfortunately, the installer was unable to clean up after itself when you killed off the installation part way through via task manager.

I would recommend that you remove the installation directory completely and try the install again.

The reason I killed the installation was that it simply stops at this point (after deleting thedirectory C:\ti and trying one more time):

com.ti.dvt2.graph.visualization.feature.group,com.ti.dvt2.rov.feature.group,com.ti.dvt2.via.ccs.feature.group,com.ti.dvt2.

profileanalysismanager.feature.group,com.ti.dvt2.uia.feature.group,com.ti.dvt2.analysis.suite.feature.group,com.ti.dvt.

msp430.power.feature.group,org.eclipse.gmf.feature.group

I have left it alone for over 20 minutes and it fails to proceed beyond this point.

If I cancel the installation here I get no further.

Cancelling installation, this may take some time ....

40 minutes later and nothing has happened - that's why I killed it.

If you zip up the install logs from c:\ti\ccsv6\install_logs* and post them here I can take a look.

Have you by any chance created junctions or have any vmware shares?

The downloads column has the off-line installers.

I think I have attached the logs. I'm afraid I don't even know what a junction or a vmware share are so probably not.
