CCS3.3 crash but when started can't edit the .tcf files with the gue editor any more???

my customer has a strange thing, he was using CCS and then it crashed. He was able to start it over again and everything worked fine but when he tried to edit the .tcf file the .tcf editor did not start but he just got into a text editor. Also when he tried to add a new .tcf file the option for DSP/BIOS configuration in the file->New was missing also. I have never seen this sounds like maybe he lost a variable for CCS when it crashed. Any ideas how to fix this with out reloading CCS?
