CCS v3.3 License

Hi,

I bought 4 C6747 starter kits for my team.  Now I worked with these kits for a while, it appeared that as long as I have these kits to start the CCS v3.3 with there is nothing to prevent me to connect CCS v3.3 to my hardware.  Is this true?

Thanks,

Dennis

  • Hi Dennis,

Do you have the CCS version that comes with the EVM? Or do you have the fill license? (See help-> About) If you have the full license, you need an external emulator to connect to your board.

Unfortunately, you can't make use of the DSK version of CCS 3.3 that ships with our kits on a custom target board. One of the main reasons is that it doesn’t support external emulation. It won't give you that option. Among other reasons, if you begin to develop, and want a newer chip, or even any of the other features and plug-ins of CCS, you wouldn’t be able to use them as all of the updating functionality is removed from the DSK CCS3. One would have to purchase the full version of CCS3 for this and an external emulator for this. For CCS v3, XDS100v1 is the least expensive emulator. XDS100v2 will only work with CCS 4.
For CCSv4, there is a free version that will work with the XDS100 external emulator. Please see Bundle License at:

  • Thanks, Mariana.  You answered my question.
