CCS floating license server in virtual environment

I'd like to configure CCS license server to run in the virtual machine. This wiki page says that it is possible, but without many details

 processors.wiki.ti.com/.../License_Server_Administration_for_CCS;tisearch=Search-EN-Everything#Installing_in_a_Virtual_Machine

The license server administration guide offers several "binding solutions":

1) UUID of the virtual machine which hosts the license server; or

2) Ethernet address of either the VMware ESX hypervisor; or

3) Ethernet address of some remote physical system.

Of all of the above methods, the first one seems to be the easiest and preferred for us.

Is it possible to bind the license to the UUID of the virtual machine? Re-hosting dialog on the myRegistered Software asks for MAC address...

Thanks!

  • Hi,

We haven't had this request before, therefore we are not 100% sure how to generate this based on the UUID. I tried to run the utility to gather the UUID mentioned in the documentation (lmhostid) on a Linux VM I have here, but it returned NULL.

Perhaps in your system this may differ. In this case, what guest OS you are running?

    Regards,
    Rafael
