.cdecls directive works in linear assembly?

Hello Champs, 
A customer of mine uses .cdecls directive to share header files between C code and linear assembly. The .cdecls directive does not work in linear assembly. He has gone through the document (SPRU186q) and has not found any statements indicating that it is only for full assembler, or to the contrary.  Please let me know.
