ccs v6.0.1 licese server down...

need help.  thanks.

i cannot have my ccs v6 client licensed.  description listed as followed:

from ccs v6 client

license server machine is down or not responding.
hostname: 192.168.0.240
c:\ti\ccsv6\ccs_base\debugserver\bin...\license\*.lic;c:\ti\license\*.lic;27000@192.168.0.240;
flextnet licensing error: -96,491. system error: 11001

both port 8090 and 27000 are not blocked by firewall, as system engineer has checked the configuration.

windows server 2008, 64-bit, on which ccs license server was installed.

from chrome browser

flexnet publisher says

in use/available 0/1 permanent

  • HI Allen,

The license server indeed seems to be down. I would suggest you to try after sometime.

    Regards,
    Gautam
  • i did install the flexnet on windows 2008 twice. neither works. there must be some missing between the server and the client, because the flexnet server log appears to be working properly, but the client could not connect it.

    Gautam, thanks for your info.
  • Can there be some firewall issues? Check this link: e2e.ti.com/.../1621809

    Regards,
    Gautam
  • i use chrome to check ccs license server. it says that license server on and 1 license available. the chrome is running on the client computer, which ccs v6.0.1 was installed. if port 8090 has been blocked by firewall, flexnet publisher could not have displayed the license availability info. since port 8090 is running normally, there is no reason that port 27000 could not function. also, there is no difference if client firewall program is functioning, when using chrome to check flexnet publisher. this is the point that confuses me.
  • Hi,

From the information you sent it seems the license server is working properly. However, can you try to lock the port to 27000 on the server just to be sure it is going through the firewall? Something described around the web (one thread is here)

Apart from this I can't think of anything else that may be going wrong in your setup. All descriptions of the error you are getting are related to communications failure between the client and the server.

Just FYI. The port configurations in a firewall are completely independent. If one port works, another may still be blocked.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • hi Rafael,

    thanks for your info.

our system engineer has setup many firewalls before, as our company is doing system integration business. he has checked the two firewall ports at least three times for this matter. maybe we need to disconnect the wan and shutdown all other clients and firewall/anti-virus to check the connection between the two computers in order to find out the cause.
  • Hi again,

i uninstalled the ccs v5.4 and installed v6.0.1 again.  as expected, ccs could not find the license server. i change the license utility program from 32-bit to 64-bit, and back to 32-bit.  the license server was shut down when changing the utility program.  before this procedure, the flexnet publisher could be seen on client computer's screen.  after the said procedure, the publisher could be seen any more.  here is the error message. the log is pasted as followed for reference.  could anyone help?

  • Hi,

Sorry, I am a bit confused by the procedure you have been using. From your initial description the license server was installed using lmadmin and it was running fine, despite you weren't able to connect any of the clients to it. However, from the last log you sent it seems you tried to restart the license server using the command line utility lmgrd, is that so?

If so, make sure you stopped the server previously started with lmadmin (a process called FNPLicensingService.exe should not be running) and only then start the server with lmgrd. When successful, you should have only one process called lmgrd.exe running. This may be the reason why tidspssw is unable to access the trusted storage (although I have never seen this message before).

Also, keep in mind that, starting the license server from the command line will not be registered as a service, thus requiring you to manually start it every time Windows restarts. To learn how to set it up as a service, check chapter 10 of the license server administration guide.

Apart from this I am really unsure what else to suggest; the parameters passed via the command line look ok (although I am not sure why you are using -z and -s) and I get a very similar log as you.

Perhaps one last idea from the log I got here: when you get the license server properly running again, check the last line of your log file, where it mentions another TCP port used by the tidspssw daemon. Perhaps opening this port may allow clients to connect to your license server (although I am unsure if this port is only local).

    Hope this helps,
    Rafael

  • Thanks to Gautam, Rafael for your info and help.

although i installed the license server program correctly, the firewall still block me out of intended operation.

the connection issue is about firewall. disappointment triggered trial and error after "unlicensed" had appeared all the way. port 8090 and 27000 opened free for access are not enough for expected result. four other ports were opened for experiment, but "unlicensed" remains until program-based access control was released and set.

thanks to Gautam and Rafael once again.
