Installing 6.1.1 resulting in a fatal error

Hello,

I am attempting to update to CCS 6.1.1.0022 from CCSv5. I have been encountering a couple issues.

First, I uninstalled CCS v5. perfect..

Next, I beg IT to disable every firewall/virus protection on my machine.

I download the offline installer (I have learned from previous installs).

First issue - Launching the ccs_setup_6.1.1.00022 by double clicking on it results in a hanging application when it requests where it should be installed. I get around this by using a cmd line call picked up from a previous install of CCS. (ccs_setup_6.1.1.00022.exe --override-apps-url “”) Weird, but okay

Second Issue

Installer seems to be doing okay but then I get a "Fatal error in installer tcldom_appendEscaped: can only handle utf-8 chars up to 3 bytes length" after the installer "completes" That doesn't sit well. I have also noticed the uninstallers are corrupted at this point as well. I have not been able to get around this. I have tried shortening the install paths, getting rid of odd characters in the unzip process. No luck

Third Issue

At this point CCS does launch and compile previous projects without issue. Something about a fatal error in installer doesn't sit well but whatever. However, I am unable to launch my emulation. I get this helpful message: "Debugger Initalization Error Unable to load C\ti\ccsv6\ccs_base\emulation\drivers\tixds560cs_dap.dvr: The specified procedure could not be found."

I have tried updating the Spectrum Digital pluggins in CCS, doesn't change anything. I am also not able to change the emulator in the project properties.

I am running a windows 7 machine.

Spectrum digital xds560v2 stm working with Tiva TM4C parts.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You have a weird CCS V6.1.1 installation experience. I just recently installed CCS V6.1.0 using offline installer at Windows 7 64-bit and did not encounter any problems.

Before installation, I deleted the old CCS folder directory, and disabled anti-virus.

I have attempted to reinstall about a half dozen times. Very repeatable results.

The issues you are hitting are new to us. I suspect they may be due to a conflict with some other software or components installed on your machine. I will see if I can get someone to take a look and comment on the first and second issue.

For the third issue, I wonder if the referenced file tixds560cs_dap.dvr is either missing or corrupted, especially if the installation did not complete properly even though it appeared to have done so. Does the file physically exist in that directory?

Hi,

Could you please zip up the contents of your install_logs* folders, including any with timestamps, and attach it here? Hopefully, we'll be able to figure out what's going on with your installation.

2656.install_logs.zipSee attached. On this latest install attempt I tried installing CCS without the spectrum digital add-ons then went back to add them later. I believe that is why I have 2 install log time stamps. It didn't work and gave the same results.

The file is definitely missing. I did try to install spectrum digital components after installing CCS as well as forcing an update from within CCS. Neither seem to create that missing file.

Hi Jeff,

Sorry for the delay. Your first set of logs (main CCS install) was successful, with no errors. The second install you attempted installed the Spectrum digital component, which was also successful. I'm not sure what the third set of logs was for - were you trying to install SD again? Did you use "Check for updates"? It looks like you have some kind of proxy set up that doesn't allow eclipse or the ccs installer to access the server.

Can you take a look at the c:/ti/ccsv6/eclipse/downloads folder and tell me what you see there?

Hi Danish,

No worries. I am glad to hear back.

I have several documents in my downloads folder. See attached image.

I did do a "check for updates" in hopes it would find an update for the emulator. It didn't appear to help me.

In regards to the server, is this when I check for updates? CCS reported downloading the installers was successful. I never received in error on that step.

Another thought. After looking at the files within the downloads folder, are the ccs_update 5.2 and 5.5 files from previous installs? I attempted to uninstall all other ccs version prior to updating to 6.1.1. The uninstaller crashed, so I deleted my c:/ti folder. Are there other places I should be checking? I thought from previous fights with ccs I had to go into tempdata or tempprograms hidden folders but I didnt see any ccs related items. Is it possible I missed something when uninstalling previous revisions?

This issue was settled offline. The problem was a "preview version" of Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Redistributable which was preventing the installation of the release version.

Hi,

Could you please provide more information? What version of CCS are you installing? Can you zip up the contents of <installdir>/ccsv6/install_logs* and post here?
