CCS for MAC OSX (latest Beta) fails to install

Hello, I downloaded and tried to install the latest Beta for MAC OS X from here. Installation however fails immediately with an assertion text - "The application "ccs_setup_6.1.1.00027" can't be opened"

browsed the README_FIRST.txt file and followed instructions to install CCS. It failed on the first step. I am logged in with an ADMIN account. Following are the steps listed:
Code Composer Studio 6 for OS X README
---------------------------------------

If you are using an Offline CCS Installer, the zip file in which it is
distributed must first be extracted by opening the zip file. Once extracted,
proceed with the installation steps below.

To install Code Composer Studio:

1. Run ccs_setup_6.x.x.xxxxx as a Standard or Admin user.
2. Read and accept the license agreement.
3. Choose where you want to install.
4. Select the components you wish to install.
5. Hit Finish to start the installation.
6. Once CCS installation has completed, run script "install_drivers.sh" in
folder <Install-Folder>/ccsv6/install_scripts as an Admin user using
sudo.

Please help resolve...

Possibly due to some security settings, but when I installed on my iMac it seemed to have installed.

BUT ... on step 6 where it requires you to install install_drivers.sh, there is a problem... there is no folder called - install_scripts under the folder - ccsv6

I still need help...

I have the same issue: vanilla Eclipse seems to be installed, but not "Code Composer Studio." And there is no install_scripts directory, nor any install_drivers.sh script that I can find.

Update: I found the right way to launch CCS. Seems to work. Perhaps the step 6 in the README is obsolete?

You're right, step 6 is obsolete, the README wasn't updated to reflect that. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I have the same issue, it launches, bounces in the dock and then quits. I have tried to find some logfiles, but nothing can be found.

Removing mac-ports seems to fix the issue, but that is not really desirable...

Hi,

I'm problems installing CCS6.1.1.00027_osx.

I'm running OSX El Capitan Version 10.11.3 (15D21).
Security set to "Allow apps downloaded from Anywhere"

When I execute "cc_setup_6.1.1.00027" it just bounces in the dock and then disappears.
Nothing is installed, no error message is displayed and no error is logged.

Upon review of the initial information at e2e.ti.com/.../454016, I note that the build only supports OS X 10.10 and 10.9.

Can you please provide a build for OSX 10.11 and or provide advice on on resolution of my problem.

Hi,
We've seen this issue on computers with Macports installed. In order to confirm that this is the issue, please post the latest bitrock*.log file from /tmp. If I'm right, I'll send you a workaround installer. This issue has been fixed in the next release.

Hi,

There is no bitrock*.log file in /tmp .

Also I don't have "Macports" installed.

Ok, that indicates that there's a problem with writing to the /tmp folder. Is it read-only on your system? If that's the problem please do the following:

Open a terminal session.
cd to the folder where the installer .app file is
Run the following command:
open ccs_setup_<version>.app --args --temp <new temp folder>
where new_temp_folder is a writeable directory.
Please note, there are double dashes before args and temp.

Hi Danish,

I created a new writeable tmp directory.
I disabled security on app installs.
I copied, modified and executed the command in a terminal session.
"open ccs_setup_6.1.2.00014.app --args --temp /Users/DG/ti/tmp"

The install package bounced in then dock and then closed.
The terminal window was silent.
The new tmp directory was written to with folder "ccs_8dbc2ad7-51c2-4093-5666-b893aab8a2ba" that only contains "uninstall_ccs.app"
There is no bitrock*.log file in /tmp

As far as I can tell, no application was installed.

I'm currently running OSX 10.11.4 and don't have MacPorts installed.

Do you have any more advice?

HI David,

Is there a log file in the same folder as the .app file?

Could you run the command

open ccs_setup_6.1.2.00014.app --args --temp /Users/DG/ti/tmp --debugtrace /Users/DG/ti/tmp/debug.txt

and send me the debug.txt file for examination?

Also, could you confirm that you have write permissions in /tmp?

Hi Danish,

There is no log file in the same folder as the .app file.
I ran the command.
- Install bounced in dock and closed.
- ccs_4b4aca02-67b2-4b0f-7332-73a1348a5d90 folder was created under /Users/DG/ti/tmp
- uninstall_ccs.app was created under that folder
- Debug.txt was created under /Users/DG/ti/tmp
How do I send you the debug.txt file?

Permissions for /Users/DG/ti/tmp are drwxr-xr-x

If you click on Reply you'll see a link for "Use rich formatting", click on that and you'll see the paper clip sign to upload your file.

I meant the permissions on /tmp not the tmp folder you created.

To update this thread:
The installer was unable to read the system's library folder due to a permission issue. The attempt to read the system library was a bug in the installer, which has been fixed in CCS 6.1.3 (will be released soon). I was able to provide David with a test installer which works around the issue.

Can I get the latest installer as well? I have 6.1.1 installed but I get an error in the middle of the install of 6.1.2. When will the production release be available? Will we need to buy a license (or transfer an existing Windows license) for the Mac version?

Hi Neil,
If you're able to start the installation, you're issue is likely very different. Could you please zip up the contents of the <installdir>/ccsv6/install_logs* folders (there may be some with timestamps) and post them here for me to take a look at?

I'll get back to you about the release date and licence information shortly.

Hi Neil,

You're getting read-timeouts while installing eclipse. I would recommend you download the offline installer package and use that instead. Please make sure you delete the contents of /Applications/ti before retrying.

6.1.3 should be available in the next couple of weeks. I believe you can transfer the windows license or add your mac as a secondary host.

Hi Neil,
Can you try this link, please?
www.ti.com/.../swlicexportcontrol.tsp

It may be a slightly older version. Make sure you unzip the zip file first, keeping the structure, before running the .app file.
Please let me know if you run into any problems.

The installer provided by Danish works. There might be a problem with the currently recommended upgrades.

CC13xx/CC26xx Device Support 1.16.2.00
TI Emulators 6.0.83.1
TI Target Content 1.0.0.201504272116

CCS fails to open after doing these upgrades.

You will have to deinstall and reinstall with Danish's installer to recover.
