XDS100v3 mac install fail

I have installed the latest code composer (CCS6.1). It should have XDS100V3 drivers.

I plug in my XDS100V3 and attempt to "Test Connection".

Here is the output

<various status messages> then:

An error occurred while soft opening the controller.

-----[An error has occurred and this utility has aborted]--------------------

This error is generated by TI's USCIF driver or utilities.

The value is '-157' (0xffffff63).
The title is 'SC_ERR_FTDI_STARTUP'.

The explanation is:
One of the FTDI driver functions used during
start-up returned bad status or an error.

[End: Texas Instruments XDS100v3 USB Debug Probe]

The xds100serial serial command returns

Scanning for XDS100 emulators...

VID/PID Type Serial # Description
0403/a6d1 XDS100v3 06EB12201F44 Texas Instruments XDS100v

If I go to Parallels (Windows running on a Mac) and run, it works.

But I have to reboot the mac first. Attempting to connect on the Mac mangles the ports after which I get the same error on Windows.

Why does it work on Windows and not work on Mac. I am running the latest install on both.

  • Bruce,

Are you running El Capitan? If so, there is a known issue with the XDS100 debug probes and El Capitan. Please see this related thread.

We have released a new emulation package (6.0.83.0) with the fix so please update to that and let us know if it addresses the issue.
You can get the update by going to menu Help->Check for Updates and installing all available updates or just the TI Emulators update.
