Problem installing a CCS v6 floating license

Hi

I have a problem installing a floating license of CCS v6.

I bought a floating 1 user pack – TI part nb: TMDSCCS-ALLF01-v6

Locally, as I don’t have an application server on my LAN but only a file server (NAS) I installed the package on a PC running Windows 8.

In this context I understood that I had to set up a license server (distant) and a CCS client on the PC and on any PC where I would use the floating license.

As required, I first installed the Flexnet license server, according to the provided indications  (connection via 127.0.0.1:8090).

Then, when I loaded the license file, the server went up.

I suspect there is a problem here since the daemon spontaneously goes down after a few seconds.

On the client side I installed CCS (initially I had a free license only) and launched the upgrade of the license.

At this stage it is required to supply an address and a port number.

I assumed I had to provide the address and port used by the Flexserver, i.e. 127.0.0.1:8090. Am I right?

My license file is located in the following directory: c:\Users\User_name\AppData\Local\Texas Instruments\CCS. Is it the right place where it should be?

The problem is that doing the above does not trigger the switching from the free license to the floating license.

What is wrong? Have I missed something?

One last point: when I first registered my license on the TI site I provided the MAC address of my PC. However I decided to launch the installation on another PC, so with a different MAC address.

Could this be the source of the problem and how critical is it to provide this MAC  address? In any case could you reset the “Re-host a license” button that is not available anymore.

I thank you in advance for your support.

Chris

PS: I have prepared some screen shots to illustrate the above but didn't succeed in copying them in this post. Is there a specific procedure for doing so?

  • Chris,

Yes, that seems to have a problem. Despite I never installed this on Windows 8, I don't think it should have any significant problems. Did you carefully follow the steps shown in the page below? Carefully check for things such as the manifest file or the location of the license file.

No. I improved section 6 of the page above to cover details on how to obtain the server IP and port to be passed to each CCS client.

Perhaps that is the real source of the problem. If your license file does not have a matching MAC address, it will not work in any occasion. To obtain help with re-hosting, check the first question of the FAQ of the page above.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Indeed that helped. It's working now.
I re-installed the all set, following your indications, on the original pc (where I had first started the install) with the registered MAC address, and it worked fine.
    Many thanks
